"...to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified." Isaiah 61:3

   WHY PHOTOGRAPHY?

Photography has long been an interest of mine, but it didn't become a passion until the mid-70's with the purchase of that first 35mm camera. That is when I became one with my camera.

There has always been a fascination with people, their moods, expressions, life and the way the light is shaping them. This interest has evolved and been refined into fine art portraiture captured in environmental and studio settings.

                                               Let's Talk About Your Photography.

   WHAT'S NEW?                    (719) 597-5097

A few years ago we happened across a home and property that was full of potential for photographic settings.  Easily accessible and high on a hill it greets you with a beautifully landscaped yard of mature aspens, maple tree, shrubbery, hedges, boulders, arbors and rustic steps.  Along the side there are plum trees and arbors, terraced gardens, tall grasses, grapevines, scrub oak and a nature trail.  In the back we have a breathtaking vista above the surrounding neighborhood overlooking Palmer Park, downtown, the mountain range and Pikes Peak in a natural setting with its own sandstone bluff and natural vegetation.  In front of the bluff is another beautifully terraced area of grasses, flowers, shrubbery and a country setting.  There are areas where we photograph and that you would totally think you were up in the foothills with Colorado country all around you.

Most recently we just completed a new 1200 square foot studio that provides the crowning touch to working with our photographic artistry and meeting all of our client's needs.  One of the unique factors of Artistic Impressions is the tremendous variety of settings, backdrops and creativity that we can offer our clients in one location.

   OUR BACKGROUND

Personally, I have been photographing for around thirty years.  I am largely self taught, but much of my refining  has come through great mentors and teachers both locally and across the United States.  For many years I have been a member of the Professional Photographer's Guild of Colorado Springs, Professional Photographers of Colorado and Professional Photographers of America.  I have enjoyed success and awards in print competions.  One of our images was selcted for the Professional Photographers of America Loan Collection which is comprised of a select few competion prints from thousands of professional photograhers across America. I have had the privilege of working with many well known commercial clients such as Lockheed Martin, MCI World Com, Newport Homes, US Oncology News, Advance Magazine, Omaro Dance Studio, Monsato, DFI Foundation Institute of Engineers, Scottrade, Colorado College, Colorado Springs Utilities and many more.

We are continually increasing our skills, knowledge, expertise and creativity through continuing education, professional organizations, schools and seminars. Through them we maintain the highest degree of business ethics, expertise and we are able to stay on the cutting edge of photography. I am also a Cetified Professional Photographer through the Professional Photographers of America.  All of that means nothing more than that all of our achievements ulitmately are to produce wonderful and meaningful portraits for you, our clients.  We are continually trying to raise the bar on the quality of photography and service that we can provide.  Our goal is not to be the biggest and highest volume studio, but it is to work with the select few who appreciate quality photography and want something that captures the memories and beauty of what is important to them.  This is why we take the time as a courtesy to personally meet with our clients before doing any photography so that we can individually plan a creative session that is uniquely designed to your personality, vision and needs. It also gives us the opportunity to come to know you as our friends and not just as clients.  We believe the more relaxed and comfortable that folks feel with you the better images they are going to take because they trust you and know you. We want to build continuing friendships and relationships that will extend into the years to come.

   MY BETTER HALF

One of the real keys to our success has been my wife of over 35 years.  Together we have three children and seven grandchildren.  We have come to appreciate the value of family, children and grandchildren.  We have seen how fast we move through the phases of our lives and how important photography is in capturing those precious moments that are so quickly gone and often missed.  This is the reason we feel that family, couples and children's photography is of such paramount importance and shouldn't be overlooked.

Sharon, my wife, is a wonderful people person  that is warm, vivacious and honest.  She has always told me just how she sees it.  While her honesty is sometimes more than I want to receive I know she loves me and always demands the best of me.  Sharon is your number one quality control expert.  Often she is there to critique and correct any oversights that she sees.  She has become more involved with the business in recent years.  She will often assist and photograph with me. She has a keenly artistic eye which is evident in the selection of many of her images when clients view their portraits.  Sharon has also had her own business for the past fifteen plus years, ABC Stuck on Balloons, where she provides balloon decorating, bouquets and helium rentals.  She is always on the customer's side and wants to provide for them just what they need.  We are both Christians who love the Lord and want that love to come through in our every day lives and dealings with people.

   FOR THE LOVE OF DANCE

In my younger years when I used to love just going out and photographing people I ran into a young lady at Colorado College who was a dancer.  Through her I began to photograph dance and other dancers.  I fell in love with dance photography.

"One of the most fascinating and beautiful expressions in life is that of the human body moving with artistic grace and form, communicating with the disciplined movements of the body a story contained within the soul. Capturing those precise moments when the body is at the apex of its expression is a source of continual challenge."~personal quote

The strong influence of this dance photography is seen throughout our site.  It has also been the subject matter that has garnered the most awards.    While I no longer have the time to invest in this area as I once did, one of the carry overs has been in our female photography.  Sharon and I work as a team as we find many women are coming to us desiring to have beautiful and tasteful fine art portraits done that they can share as gifts with their spouse or they just want to capture their beauty for themselves.  This holds true as well for pregnancy portraits when many women feel they are least beautiful. We want this to be a time when they can look at their personal portraits and see how awesomely beautiful they really in this time of maternal radiance.  The experience with dance photography helps in the posing and creating a flow and softness for a woman.  The creation is often not so much in the visual as it is in feeling of what is created.  Sharon and I artistically try to create each woman's vision in way that is dignified, tasteful and yet artisticly expressive of the personal beauty within your being..

   THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

The most important thing about our photography is you.  Photography is our artistry, but the joy of our artistry is in creating an image and portrait that you, our client, is thrilled with.  Our greatest joy and satisfaction as photographic artistt is when we meet and exceed our client's expectations.  We are not perfect, but that is always our goal.  We believe so much in that goal that we offer a guarantee that assures you that you can not loose in your relationship with us.  "We absolutely 100% guarantee that you will be thrilled with your photographs, or we will do whatever it takes to make you thrilled, or give you all of your money back."  We want you to be thrilled or we do not deserve your money.

Please take a moment right now to call and chat with us with no cost or obligation concerning you portrait needs or desires.  Let's work together to get you the portraits that you truly deserve and want.
